Version: 1.4 (using KDE 4.4.1) OS: Linux Installed from: Gentoo Packages Incidentially I found a file of which Dolphin and Konqueror show the name truncated, even though there is more than enough horizontal space available. I have not found any other file yet where this also happens. There are no special characters involved as far as I can see. I even manually retyped the name in an editor and pasted that into the rename mask, overwriting the old name. The only peculiarity I could find was that the dotted focus rectangle around the name is two pixels shorter than it is for other files. The rectangle comes from QtCurve, but the name also gets truncated when using oxygen as widget style. The name is not truncated when using symbols view with big enough symbols. See the following screen for illustration.
Created attachment 41537 [details] Small screenshot First part: Symbol view, name is OK, shot taken in Dolphin Second part: normal filename selected, shot taken in Konqueror Third part: concerning file selected, shot taken in Konqueror
Clue: I found out that the cause is the combination "-V-" in the name. If I remove just one of the dashes, the name gets fully shown. So apparently kerning is the issue.
Very interesting, thanks for the report!
I can’t reprocude this anymore, neither with QtCurve nor with Oxygen. So I guess this has been fixed, running 4.4.5 on Debian Squeeze.
