Since you are using Kubuntu, you will need amarok-dbg and phonon-dbg at least, ideally you should also have kdelibs5-dbg, libqt4-dbg and  libglib2.0-0-dbg. That should cover most of the crashes.

Also, I fail to see why you use an Ubuntu as old as 9.04 if you are running a newer KDE on it anyway...

This is a production machine ubuntu 9.04, and I don't see why I cannot run ubuntu 9.04 instead of kubuntu and/or newer versions and I compile most packages/dependencies from source anyway.

bt is missing xine debug, all other kde devel are compiled from git. And the reson I am still using default xinelib is because the newer version broke API/ABI compatibility. So I am using the development/debug version provided by ubuntu. I will try again to install the new xine and see if that works.

I don't mean dragging the scrollbar. I mean mouse-click the default "All albums" (lhs TEXT album list) then keep pressing the down-arrow so it moves through the album names(TEXT) in the collection. Amarok crashes almost halfway through the album listing. 

Any way I am running through git pull now, just waiting for the latest kdesc to finish compile. I will update the bt again hopefully this will have more/complete info.

Hm, I just wonder how you can get KDE from git, it still uses SVN...

The reason why I suggest you use a newer Ubuntu is that you are using an old underlying system with old kernels, a lot of things are not backported to Jaunty. But if you prefer to compile everything for yourself, I wonder why you are not using Gentoo or Arch instead. Also using pre-released software on a production machine is a bit contradictory...

Okay, that cleared things up. I know about this issue for a while now. It is easily reproduced by left-click dragging in the artist treeview. I've not had time to fix this yet.

The problem is due to the artist selection being changed too quickly. For now, as a possible workaround, you can shift/ctrl+select the artists using the mouse.

my bad, kde from svn and qt/amarok from git, there cleared that up :) As for the old underlying system I am using the latest 2.6.32 kernel. As for the reason I use ubuntu is because programming tools/environments for certain embedded systems run/certified on ubuntu without me spending a week or more getting them to work on other distros such as gentoo/arch. Although I will update to 10.04 ubuntu if the newer tools that I use are certified for 10.04 and if it is vastly improved compared to 9.04.

As far as running pre-release software, I like to submit bugs/feature requests, fix bugs and test applications when possible and since its a very fast machine with lots of ram I compile the whole kde+extras/qt/amarok trunk in 30mins when I am not doing research work@night.

    Merge branch 'cover-manager'
    
    This merge reworks the cover manager a bit. The main change is putting
    the progress indicator into the statusbar, instead of a popup dialog.
    Also, it fixes a few crashes in the process.

fantastic Rick, thanks for the update, the covermanager is fast :) and you have also removed the cover loading window popup - I was almost tempted to file another bug report to remove the popup infavour of a progressbar that you have implemented now, Great.

Now only if there is fancy/coverflow/slideshow like display instead of the static displays of covers - that would rule :)
