Version: (using KDE 4.3.4) OS: Linux Installed from: Archlinux Packages I enter on konsole: killall kio_ftp dolphin -HUP just to be sure i start from the beginning. I hit alt+f2 and enter ftp://user@site/ ; Enter my pass Drag myfile.zip from my local HD to a remote folder on an ftp site through dolphin and ftp:// protocol, dolphin says: "Could not rename partial file ftp://user@site/myfile.zip. Please check permissions." I hit cancel and i notice that my file on remote site is named myfile.zip.part I *have* rename rights on remote site. If i try to rename the file manually, dolphin says: "Could not rename file /myfile.zip.part I Hit Ok. I try to rename another random file, dolphin says the same. I hit alt+f2 and write: konqueror ftp://user@site/ I select myfile.zip.part and hit f2, rename it to myfile.zip and it works. I close dolphin and reopen it to the same url. I try to rename a random file, and now it works.
I almost forgot. For some reason i ignore, the problem wont occour if i upload small files. The larger the file, the more the bug is likely to occour.
I have a similar problem - can't rename remote files using dolphin's sftp kio slave. This has started happening with Kubuntu version 10.04 - Lucid Lynx. It wasn't happening prior to that release. I believe the dolphin version I have is 1.4 - the kubuntu package is 4.4.2-0ubuntu2.
Thanks for the report. Dolphin has no custom implementation of the sftp kio slave, so it should behave equal as Konqueror. The error message above is send by the kio slave, so I'm wondering whether it really works to 100 % in Konqueror... Would it be possible that you check again with a more recent KDE SC version like 4.4. or 4.5 (at least I could not reproduce the issue)? If it is still reproducible and is not only Dolphin related, we need to forward this to kdelibs. Thanks!
Closing for missing activity + I never experienced this bug. If you still encounter it, please reopen this bug report.
