Version: 1.3 (using 4.3.2 (KDE 4.3.2), Debian packages) Compiler: cc OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.32-0.slh.1-sidux-686 After I have moved or copied a file in dolphin it gets unusably slow for further actions: selecting another file takes about 20 seconds before the file is selected, another 20 seconds before the cursor appears in the second pane with the file-dragging-symbol, another 20 seconds before the menu to move/copy/symlink appears, another 20 seconds before I can select the menu item I want and so on. This behaviour stays, even after half an hour, unless I close dolphin and reopen it. Nepomuk is activated. The rest of the GUI and applications is/are fast and resposive.
What about kickoff menu and krunner? If you press "ALT+F1" (kickoff menu) or "ALT+F2" (krunner shell) are they fast or slow?
Kickoff and krunner appear instantly but are a little bit less responsive than usual.
It doesn't seem to happen when strigi indexer is inactive.
Alas it also happens with inactive indexer - but the problem doesn't occur so far as long as the information panel in dolphin is turned off.
I can confirm this. In the first case I was sorting my photos of my Digital camera and moved them into directories of my harddrive. In the second case I was moving old DOS Games (Which I plan to use in DOSBox now) to another location. These were pretty larga actions however. Dolphin got pretty slow after these actions and even scrolling thru files and especially marking and moving new ones was a pain. However I can work around this by closing and re-opening dolphin.
I'm sorry for the (very) late reply... Does this issue still occur with Dolphin for KDE SC 4.4/4.5? Although I'm aware about some probably related issues that go into this direction, I was not able to reproduce it like mentioned above.
I am not able to reproduce this bug with Dolphin 17.12.3, so I'll close this bug (strigi is also not used anymore, so the cause should be resolved).
