Description Stephan Sokolow 2009-05-03 09:34:40 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.2)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources

KHTML leaves a one-pixel gap in the selection highlight wherever selected text transitions from regular to italics and in some situations (text with ellipses and/or typographical quotes, I think), it'll misalign the highlight so it appears that the last character is selected when it isn't.

Do you have any testcase URL or html file to provide?
I just tried a simple test html file with some random italic text inside a regular text paragraphs and I can reproduce the described behaviour here using:

Qt: 4.5.1 (qt-copy 971295)
KDE: 4.2.92 (KDE 4.2.92 (KDE 4.3 >= 20090617))
kdelibs svn rev. 984425 / kdebase svn rev. 984427
on ArchLinux i686 - Kernel 2.6.29.4

Thanks

I first noticed it while saving quotes from Fanfiction.net stories I was reading. I'd give you a link, but Konqueror 4.x and something about my connection don't seem to like each other and, at the moment, Fanfiction.net can only be acccessed via non-Konqueror browsers (Konqueror times out)

However, while confirming your observation that it doesn't happen everywhere, I also noticed that transitions to and from boldface text on the Python standard library API docs show the same problem (eg. http://docs.python.org/library/subprocess.html )

Test Case

I'm still on KDE and Konqueror 4.13.3 (Kubuntu 14.04 LTS) but it's still a problem for me.

I'm attaching a testcase for anyone who's on KDE 5.

See previous comment.

Bugzilla wouldn't let me attach something and change the status (without self-assigning) with a single comment.

Thank you for reporting this issue in KDE software. As it has been a while since this issue was reported, can we please ask you to see if you can reproduce the issue with a recent software version?

If you can reproduce the issue, please change the status to "REPORTED" when replying. Thank you!

If you asked me in early November or late January, reinstalling Konqueror to test this wouldn't be an issue but now?

I guess let it automatically get WORKSFORME'd, because I'm not going to take time away from my family at Christmas just because a bot gives me an ultimatum on a bug that I reported over a decade ago for a piece of software I don't even have installed anymore.
