Comment 3 R Benzinger (dup) 2009-05-05 20:11:50 UTC
I can confirm this crash. In fact, it happens very frequently. There is no particular action required; browsing a large folder or viewing pictures in fullscreen mode will do.
Comment 4 Vítor E. Silva Souza 2009-05-08 11:12:18 UTC
I just got one myself. I was browsing the pictures in a folder to move them to sub-folders and better organize them. I selected a bunch of them and when I used the mouse scroll wheel to scroll up and find the sub-folder I wanted to move them to, it crashed.

Using Kubuntu Jaunty, Gwenview 4.2.2 (package version 4:4.2.2-0ubuntu2).

Comment 6 Aurelien Gateau 2009-06-15 10:04:24 UTC
The crash happens in libsopranoclient, which is used by libnepomuk. Can you try to disable Nepomuk (System Settings > Advanced > Desktop Search, uncheck "Enable Nepomuk Semantic Desktop") and check if it fixes this bug?
Comment 7 Aurelien Gateau 2009-06-15 10:06:21 UTC
Sebastien, can you have a look at that one (crash in libsopranoclient)?
Comment 8 R Benzinger (dup) 2009-06-15 19:43:24 UTC
No, disabling Nepomuk does not fix this. (I have both Nepomuk and Strigi disabled and would be more than happy to wipe those from my harddisk altogether.)
Comment 9 Aurelien Gateau 2009-06-15 22:47:45 UTC
Could be the other way then. Are you by chance showing rating below thumbnails while Nepomuk is disabled? or showing the sidebar panel?
Comment 10 R Benzinger (dup) 2009-06-16 10:30:00 UTC
No and no. I'm using Gwenview to view/browse, move, and delete images only. In browse mode, I'm displaying the filename below thumbnails only.
Comment 11 Robert Ševčík 2009-07-06 14:54:36 UTC
"The application Gwenview (gwenview) crashed and caused the signal 6 (SIGABRT)." - every now and then after a number of images viewed. If it's not the same problem, please tell me to fill a new bug.

I still believe this bug is linked to Nepomuk ratings, but it seems you are running Gwenview without Nepomuk. Can you try to enable Nepomuk and check if you can still reproduce that bug?

Also, the bug could be related to the sidebar (which shows ratings). Have you been running with the sidebar on? if so, can you try to reproduce the bug after hidding the sidebar?
Comment 15 alan grosz 2009-08-11 19:39:10 UTC
As per your request I've installed Nepomuk. When I started Gwenview I got a
places/Home page, this seems to be new. I kind of like it, but, haven't
found a way to delete recent entries, will have to try to find the way.

My bug report was about a failure in the slide-show. And you are right, I
don't use the sidebar. It appears to be fixed!! I tried a couple of
different pic folders and it appears ok.

One thing I noticed was that somewhere along the line, the preferences
choices have greatly been reduced. I suppose thats all right as I just use
Gwenview to look at pictures full screen size to see if I like them as
desktop pics.

Thank you for ALL the good work. The last time I looked, Mint with kipi even
played videos. You folks really provide a great product... Alan

Aw chit!!
Late Tuesday I cranked up Gwenview again and pointed it at several folders
using random/repeat/5 sec. It died again. When I enter Home I get a message
at the bottom of the page. It says that Nepomuk is not installed,, but I
installed it from the Kubuntu respository. I don't know what is going on!

And again I was using full-screen slide-show.

The message is not very clear. You need to enable Nepomuk by starting the System Settings application, then go to "Advanced / Desktop Search" and check the "Enable Nepomuk Semantic Desktop" option.

Comment 19 Mark S. 2011-12-28 00:23:17 UTC
I am unable to reproduce this bug. Is this still an issue with the most current version of Gwenview and KDE?
Comment 20 Myriam Schweingruber 2011-12-28 14:48:26 UTC
Setting status correctly.
Comment 21 Myriam Schweingruber 2013-04-02 17:28:34 UTC
Closing for lack of feedback. Please feel free to reopen this report if you can reliably reproduce this with Gwenview 4.10.0 or later and provide a valid backtrace.

FWIW: I can't reproduce this on KDE 4.10.1
