Description Caleb Cushing 2009-04-14 06:46:52 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.2)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

when I open kicker and click anywhere else it takes some 3 odd seconds for it to disappear from the screen, if I do this a few time sit seems eventually kwin compositing will slow to a crawl and crash, I believe I'd have to restart X at that point... restarting compositing doesn't fix the problem... nor does relogin. other compositing stuff like magic lamp, the cube, transparency don't seem to negatively affect things.

To which application do you refer when talking of kicker? Kicker from KDE 3.5 or the Plasma panel?
Comment 2 Caleb Cushing 2009-04-14 09:19:45 UTC
whoops I meant kickoff the menu... in 4.2.2 my bad
Comment 3 Martin Flöser 2009-04-16 09:51:57 UTC
can't see how this could be related to kwin as kwin does not do anything with kickoff -> reassign to Plasma
Comment 4 Aaron J. Seigo 2009-06-11 01:45:01 UTC
it's kwin that's dieing here, though, and the kickoff window isn't doing anything particularly special.

i wouldn't be surprised if this is a driver issue, however.

to the reporter: if you can get a backtrace from kwin when it crashes that would probably be most helpful.

I remember about this bug, I also remember it has been fixed.
