Version: 1.11.2 (using KDE 4.2.2) Installed from: SuSE RPMs Steps to reproduce: 1. Open kmail. 2. Compose new mail. 3. Quit kmail. Expected result: kmail should exit and composer window should close. Actual result: kmail closed but composer window remained open. Also should it save mail as draft(if edited) before closing composer window?
I can confirm this behaviour. The composer windows remains open after closing kmail (incl. quitting the kmail tasktray icon). I wrote an email and then saved it as draft in the single composer windows. This worked. My guess is that it's intended to work like this.
I can even send email just from the composing window. It seems that is intended behaviour. Also I was unable to run Kontact, open a composing window and then close Kontact without having the composing window being closed also. That's an inconsistency in behavious.
This is not a bug. The composer window is a separate process (otherwise, clicking on a mailto: link would launch KMail instead of a composer window)
