Hello,

Changing the volume of the sound with a mixer (any mixer, alsamixer or kmix the problem is the same) does not affect at all the volume of the sound of KDE applications such as juk or amarok. However it affects properly the volume of non KDE apps such as mplayer or vlc. The same problem occurs with the Xine and the GStreamer backends. Also note that changing the volume within the application works as expected. The problem only occurs when changing the volume through a mixer. I have tried changing all channels in the mixer, none has any effect.

Thanks!

I have this card:
 0 [Intel ]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel
HDA Intel at 0xe8400000 irq 22
Codec: Realtek ALC889A

If this is still an issue, can you see if you have any ~/.asoundrc or /etc/asound.conf, and in that case, post them?

Hello,

I have neither of them. If it is of any importance i use the S/PDIF output of the sound card.

Thanks,

Médéric

Médéric, is this still valid?

I guess not. It seems to work now. In case i encounter the problem again i will reopen.
