Description Dmitry 2009-02-12 15:20:35 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.2.0)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

Sometimes fonts became garbaged with some kind of yellow fills which may appear on one window or even a whole desktop. This may be related to font smoothing mechanism, but this is IMHO.

This effect does not take place for a long time, usually it disappears after some desktop/app redraws.

See the attached screenshot.

P.S: This bug is not related to bug #175834

What is your graphics card/drivers? Does this also happen in non-KDE4/Qt4 applications ?
Thanks

I have an asus X50N notebook with nVidia GeForce7000M onboard. Nvidia drivers 180.27

> Does this also happen in non-KDE4/Qt4 applications ?

No. This happens only on KDE 4.2. I haven't noticed such things in earlier versions, either 4.x or 3.5.x

P.S: I upgraded drivers to 180.29 yesterday. I'll drop a line here if something changes.

P.P.S: I think drivers is not the case. Problem take place on font rendering only, not the screen bitmap itself.

Well, nothing had changed. I'm just experienced similar effect on a new driver.

P.P.S: After upgrading, symptoms of bug #175834 are existing for me too.

Was your Qt version updated? Do you have any news on this bug?
Thanks

Sorry for not answering.. was too busy.

Now I'm using Qt 4.5.1 (from Gentoo portage) and it seemed that all is working ok. I haven't noticed any font artifacts since the upgrade.
