Version: (using KDE 4.2.0) OS: Linux Installed from: Gentoo Packages Steps to reproduce: 1) Add a System Tray widget to the desktop 2) Add a new activity (second, to the right) 3) Move the Systray widget in the lower right corner of the first activity 4) Switch to the second activity 5) See a crippled Systray widget there that changes its position according to the exact position of "the real widget" on the first desktop / activity A video of this bug can be found at http://oliver-putz.net/bugreports/plasmaSystrayWidgetShowingOnSecondActivity.ogv
Here using: Qt: 4.5.0 + qt-copy-patches-942255 KDE: 4.2.70 (KDE 4.2.70 (KDE 4.3 >= 20090415)) kdelibs svn rev. 958964 / kdebase svn rev. 958965 on ArchLinux i686 - Kernel 2.6.29.1 I can reproduce this issue. I guess it is related to the trayicons protocol limitations.
you are correct, Dario. there is really nothing we can do about this, sadly, other than get apps moved over to the new systray protocol asap.
