Version: (using KDE 4.1.3) OS: Linux Installed from: Mandriva RPMs The first time that I press the Kmenu icon the shape of the Kmenu (Application Launcher) appears for half a second, disappears and then the Kmenu fully appears. Pressing Kmenu icon again makes it appears immediately. This is annoying. First I thought my mouse was broken, that it did a double-click in stead of a single left click. In case this is hardware related: I use the Nvidia driver 177.70.
I also have a NVIDIA card and it works nicely here using trunk r958853 + nvidia driver 180.51 + xorg-server 1.53-r5 It's known that NVIDIA drivers had (and have) some bugs, so could you please test it again with a newer NVIDIA driver and give us a feedback?
In virtualmachines Virtualbox with KDE 4.2.2 and KDE latest I don't see the flashing. I can't test it real though (no more place on my hard drive). I'll check it again when Mandriva Linux 2009.1 comes out next month.
Mandriva Linux 2009.1 with KDE 4.2.2. NVidia card 8800 GTS NVidia drivers 180.51 There no longer appears a shape of Kmenu. But every time (not only after a first time) for a brief second the Kmenu is black before its content is displayed. I guess the first time it takes time to cache the icons. I find it a little ugly, the caching should have been done sooner. But a lot of time (after the first time) something black briefly appears. That's not pretty. When my desktop is empty then the Kmenu appears fast enought without the black. But when I have a window on the desktop I see something black first. Please fix it. Wait, I just see that I haven't enabled Desktop Effects. I'll check that right away. Regards
I just enabled Desktop Effects. The Kmenu now appears nicely. (Although sometimes I get the impression it hesitates to appear.) So if Desktop Effects is not enabled the Kmenu is briefly black before its contents appear. Not a real bug.
- Is the problem still happening with an updated KDE, Qt and graphics drivers, even without desktop effects ? Thanks
KDE 4.2.4 Qt 4.5.2 Nvidia 185.18.36-3mdv2009.1 When Desktop Effects is not enabled the Kmenu is still briefly (for a very short time) black before its contents appear. With Desktop Effects enabled it is ok.
