Description Ernie Dunbar 2009-01-14 21:46:28 UTC
Version: 3.5.3 (using KDE 3.5.10)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

When using the documentation viewer with the PHP.net site, trying to use PHP.net's search tool results only in this message:

**** BEGIN ERROR MESSAGE ****

The autocompleting search feature is accessible via the form elements at the top right of php.net pages. You should be able to use this feature in a reasonably modern browser by selecting the 'function list' search option and typing in some letters into the searchbox. Features:
Dynamically changing list of function names starting with the substring you typed
Navigate in the list with up and down keys
Autocomplete with pressing the space key
Go to a function by clicking on its name with your mouse
If you are not interested in this feature, you can turn it off for yourself on the My PHP.net page.
In case you find any bugs, we are interested in a detailed writeup, including JS error messages, operating system and browser information. The source code of this feature is released under the PHP License and is available from the PHP CVS server without any support.

***** END OF ERROR *****

It's worth noting that this isn't just a cookie problem or something similar. Using Lynx to duplicate the problem and rejecting all cookies when it asks does not result in the same message. Since the page works in Lynx on the command line, this leads me to believe that it's some kind of limitation in the Documentation Viewer.

Are you talking about the embedded konqueror window in the editor area or the toolview for documentations?
Comment 2 Ernie Dunbar 2009-01-15 18:32:08 UTC
It's hard to tell, since there's no title on the window saying "Embedded Konqueror Window", but it is in the editor area, and clicking the links in the documentation appears to get documents from the web.

It looks like some kind of problem with the embedded browser, but I tested the page in 4 other browsers (Mozilla, Opera, Galeon, and Lynx) and I couldn't reproduce it, even with cookies and javascript turned off.
Comment 3 Andreas Pakulat 2009-01-15 19:43:40 UTC
Yes, that would be the embedded konqueror we use. Re-Assigning.
Comment 4 Maksim Orlovich 2009-01-15 19:47:37 UTC
URL?
Comment 5 Ernie Dunbar 2009-01-15 20:35:26 UTC
It's in the bug report - php.net. :)
Comment 6 Maksim Orlovich 2009-01-15 20:53:04 UTC
Just the frontpage? Works for me (4.2-pre)
Comment 7 Ernie Dunbar 2009-01-15 22:21:27 UTC
You mean you went to php.net in Kdevelop and successfully did a search on the php.net front page, or you mean you did that in Konqueror?

I'd have to wonder if Kdevelop is really using Konqueror as its embedded browser in my case, since I don't have Konqueror installed (Ubuntu wants me to install kdesktop to fulfill dependencies, and I'd rather stick to Gnome).
Comment 8 Milian Wolff 2009-06-05 15:39:04 UTC
Maybe this should be closed since KDevelop3 is unmaintained? And additonally I'm working on integrating the PHP documentation right into KDevelop4...

I /think/ we are talking about KDevelop3 here? Because in 4 I cannot see a way to embedd konqueror into the edit view?
Comment 9 Dominik Tritscher 2009-06-20 12:44:10 UTC
It works fine in standalone konqueror and is not used in kdevelop4 anymore. So I think we can really close that.
