Here using: Qt: 4.4.3 + qt-copy-patches-889120 KDE: 4.1.86 (KDE 4.1.86 (KDE 4.2 >= 20081221)) kdelibs svn rev. 904138 / kdebase svn rev. 904138 on ArchLinux x86_64 - Kernel 2.6.27.10 I can't reproduce the bug. With the option "Open as tab in existing Konqueror when URL is called externally" enabled in Konqueror If I have a Konqueror window showing a website, if I click (for example) in the KDE minibar/logo in the top of the Kickoff menu launcher, the KDE site is opened in a new tab in the already open Konqueror window. May this is a bug in KMail, calling Konqueror with some wrong parameters / in a wrong way ? Can anyone else confirm this?
I can confirm this in the Debian 4.1.96 packages. Easy test is in konsole with a konq window open already: "konqueror http://www.google.com" it opens a new window.
running in konsole: "kfmclient newTab http://www.google.com" This does open a new tab.
I can also confirm this bug, though not just for Kmail - does it for every external link. I have the options "Open links in new tab instead of in new window" and "Open as tab in existing Konqueror when URL is called externally" both on - yet it will always open up a new Konqueror. This is on: 64 Bit Arch Linux with KDEMod, nVidia 180.22
Just some more info on this: It *only* happens when Konqueror is on another desktop, at least for me. When it is on another desktop though, another Konqeuror is loaded.
Do you think this should be marked as a duplicate of bug 108149 ? Thanks
It works for me, except in the case described in comment 5. And yes, when that case is solved, I guess we could close the other bug.
I cannot reproduce this bug in Konqueror svn 983852. I've tried opening a link from Konsole and Kmail, both worked fine.
I should add that this indeed only happens only when Konqeuror is on another desktop. However, this has always been the behaviour since KDE3. It makes sense, if Konqueror is opened up in another desktop, it's less likely to have association with the activity on the current desktop, therefore, a new Konqueror should be loaded. But perhaps this should be an option for users who think otherwise.

I deleted the .kde directory, and now it is working again.
