Version: (using KDE 4.1.2) OS: Linux Installed from: SuSE RPMs Hello, this problem ist most likley the same as reported in: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=167746 but was set to resolved. (I cannot confirm this, of course :) I have here many thinclients with different panels (1280x1024, 1600x1400,1920x1200,.. etc..) When I login over X :1 -query <kdehost> to a 1280x1024 everything is fine. I logout walk to a thinclient with 1920x1200 and the kpanel does not resize to the maximum. I would expect such a behaviour. Additionally I was not able to manually resize it to the max but this is most likley because I still dont know how to handle this new "plasma desktop" :) I will attach the screenshot. regards, Martin
Created attachment 28045 [details] panel after login with a 1920x1200 panel It starts with 1280x1024. And its not configured to have this fixed size, but I dont see an "autoresize horizontically" button either. So I think its a bug.
Here using: Qt: 4.4.3 KDE: 4.1.85 (KDE 4.1.85 (KDE 4.2 Beta2)) kdelibs svn rev. 898705 / kdebase svn rev. 898705 on ArchLinux x86_64 - Kernel 2.6.27.8 (i haven't tested this with this SVN rev, but I have experienced the bug with recents revisions) I have experienced this bug , first logging in using a Xephyr session (1000x700px) the panel containment on the bottom set its width to 1000px. When loading KDE from a "real" X session (1280x800), the width panel it's still 1000px. May be this bug-report can be converted to a wish to have an "auto-expand" option for the panel containment in Plasma :)
Can you still reproduce on KDE 4.2.2 or current trunk? I don't know if it is the right way to reproduce the bug, but changing the screen resolution with krandtray doesn't make my desktop suffer of this bug.
This is probably related to #172173
Sorry, it might not be related. Anyway, I can confirm that when switching to a higher resolution, the panel doesn't stretch to the maximum width.
fix in 4.3.0, backported to 4.2 for packagers who wish to grab it.
