Version: 1.0.99 (using Devel) Installed from: Compiled sources OS: Linux Dolphin does not offer any option for the user to view file metadata, like the resolution of image/video files, ID3 tags in MP3 files, etc. This information is not shown neither in the tooltips baloons for files nor in the file properties dialog and it's necessary to open the file in an specialized application if one wants to see its metadata. I think this option, which existed in Konqueror, is excellent for quick viewing useful information about the file. By the way, thanks for Dolphin and congratulations for creating such a fine file manager.
This very useful feature of KDE3 times that is currently missing. Currently if you want to check size of image you must open it in editor or viewer, which is nor comfortable. The same situation exists for other file types, such as videos, you must open it in player to check length of the movie. Also information about text files is missing...
I really hope it will be implemented in KDE 4.3, as it probably won't make it into 4.2, according to a comment on peter penz' blog: https://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=591179528445148028&postID=7115443783890595012

Hi, thanks for that option, I'm using 4.1.3 with that patch. Sometimes it's working. Not with jpegs, for example. But I guess it's not a dolphin issue. I hope with kde 4.2 this will be solved. But how about showing really useful information: Iso equivalent, exposure time, aperture, date+time when the image was taken, used lens, focal distance, camera manufacturer, ... As it was with konqueror in kde 3.5. Mainly for raw image files that is critical to find out, which image you have selected, because you can't just open them in gwenview or similar. Georg
