Description Mike Gallo 2008-06-17 00:39:22 UTC
Version: 0.12.7 (using KDE 4.0.5)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Other

After losing connectivity with an IRC server, Kopete does not automatically rejoin the server. Kopete does not seem to be aware that it is no longer connected and does not provide any cue to the end user that it has lost connectivity. Manual reconnection seems to work and a relaunch of Kopete is not necessary, but the user is normally not aware of the problem until notified by a person who can see that they are no longer connected to the server.

I have tested this out on two computers. A laptop with Ubuntu 7.10 and a desktop with 8.04. Both are connecting to Oslo.NO.EU.IRCLink.Net. The desktop uses KVirc and its status window shows the client getting disconnected and then automatically reconnecting to the server on a regularly basis. This is with an uninterrupted Internet connection and Kopete simply does not reconnect on its own.
