Description Vilson Cristiano Gärtner 2008-05-05 17:53:07 UTC
Version: 1.9.9 (using KDE 3.5.9)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux

When using kmail to send e-mail through an ssh tunnel, it only works if you inform the IP address (127.0.0.1) in the host field. Informing "localhost" kmail returns this error:
5.7.1 Looks like a dynamic address
BTW, my /etc/hosts has an line: 127.0.0.1 localhost
using telnet localhost port also does work (remote server responds)

Only to register, in the past using localhost worked... ;-)

Regards,
Vilson

This looks like a mailserver issue, not a kmail problem.

Thanks!

I don't agree. Why?

1 - this configuration is done in kmail
2 - informing the IP (127.0.0.1) instead localhost works great.
3 - in the past it worked the same way.
4 - Some colleagues use thunderbird and it works (you can inform IP or localhost, as you wish)

Therefore, it isn't be a mailserver issue!

Only to update: now I'm using KMail version 1.11.2 on KDE 4.2.2
and it IS WORKING.

If it's working, we can close it.
Thanks for informing us.
