Version: (using KDE 4.0.3) Installed from: Gentoo Packages OS: Linux When I disable desktop effects, ksolarwinds.kss process starts (my set screensaver), it just eats CPU (about 50%), it doesn't display normal screensaver or anything, I have to kill it manually to stop it.
Can you attach to the process and provide the backtrace? I don't see how this could happen.
Created attachment 24376 [details] requested backtrace I'm not proficient with gdb, so if you like something more then write.
The backtrace is not from ksolarwinds.kss, but from xscreensaver/antispect ?
Created attachment 24384 [details] ksolarwinds backtrace I've changed screensaver, it doesn't strictly depend on ksolarwinds, but there is backtrace if I do this for ksolarwinds.
Are you able to reproduce it with a more recent KDE SC version? (4.5.x) I have configured the solar winds screensaver and I can not reproduce in KDE SC 4.6 development.
does this still happen? irrespective of what the screensaver process is trying to do, i find it kinda bizarre that it is being started in response to changing the desktop effects setting ...
Last reporter comment is despite questions nearly 4 years old (4.0.3 ...) Given the many code changes since and the "bizarre" nature of the bug i'll close it unmaintained. If this is still an issue feel free to contact again.
