Compiler:          gcc
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.22.17-0.1-default

With a connection to sftp can not navigate the directory tree.
Only you can explore the home user and its subdirectories

I'm not sure your bug is valid. If you connected like so :

sftp://192.168.10.4/  (notice the slash) , you would be redirected to the root folder, which by going to upper levels allows you to use the up button. 
I'm not certain of what i say, but after trying sftp://localhost/ , this allows me to navigate from root.

However, even if it defaults to the home folder, it should let you navigate, so the bug should be left open.

I'm not sure if the bug is valid.
Is not it a bug? . It may be a wish. (Konqueror4 behave like konqueror3)
