Description Robert L. Duff 2008-02-24 19:05:48 UTC
Version: kmymoney (using Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources
OS: Linux

This error shows when I attempt to enter kmymoney. Apparently have two instances running. How do I shut this Unable to add transaction: Unknown account id '' down without having to delete and reinstall the program??

Re-installing won't help, because this is caused by your data. Apparently, you created a scheduled transaction which points to an account that you have deleted in the meantime.

What you can do is the following:

a) Make a backup of your data file and keep it. We might need it later on
b) start the app with the option -n which prevents the last file to be opened
c) turn off the option to check for schedules on startup
d) open your data file
e) run Tools/Consistency check
f) If that does not help, try to edit each scheduled transaction to find out which one causes the problem

Hope that helps. Did you create this file using an earlier version of the application? If you find out anything, we are interested in the reason of this problem because we have to fix it.
