Version: 1.6.2 (using KDE 3.5.6, Kubuntu (feisty) 4:3.5.6-0ubuntu14) Compiler: Target: x86_64-linux-gnu OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.20-16-generic Sorry to bother you so much :) Changing keyboard shortcuts (using the standard kde dialog opened through the "configuration" menu) works but the changes are not preserved if krita is restarted. Checking the ~/.kde/share/apps/krita/krita.rc file I can see the keyboard setting is indeed saved: <!DOCTYPE kpartgui SYSTEM "kpartgui.dtd"> <kpartgui version="15" name="Krita" > (...) <ActionProperties> <Action shortcut="Shift+C" name="tool_crop" /> </ActionProperties> </kpartgui> However, when restarting krita, the shortcut does not work, and is no longer visible in the "configure keyboard settings" menu. I tried other tools, adding/changing/removing keyboard settings, and all are forgotten when I restart. I haven't experienced any similar behaviour with other applications. Other configurations (Krita's settings, as well as toolbars) are saved and loaded normally. Okay I did some more investigation: When running krita from the command line, and only if I change something in the keyboard shortcut dialog, the following messages are output when it exits: kdeui (kdelibs): ERROR: Could not write to /usr/share/apps/kritaplugins/colorrange.rc kdeui (kdelibs): ERROR: Could not write to /usr/share/apps/kritaplugins/screenshot-krita.rc kdeui (kdelibs): ERROR: Could not write to /usr/share/apps/kritaplugins/scripting.rc kdeui (kdelibs): ERROR: Could not write to /usr/share/apps/kritaplugins/colorspaceconversion.rc kdeui (kdelibs): ERROR: Could not write to /usr/share/apps/kritaplugins/kritafiltersgallery.rc kdeui (kdelibs): ERROR: Could not write to /usr/share/apps/kritaplugins/imagesize.rc kdeui (kdelibs): ERROR: Could not write to /usr/share/apps/kritaplugins/rotateimage.rc kdeui (kdelibs): ERROR: Could not write to /usr/share/apps/kritaplugins/modify_selection.rc kdeui (kdelibs): ERROR: Could not write to /usr/share/apps/kritaplugins/histogram.rc kdeui (kdelibs): ERROR: Could not write to /usr/share/apps/kritaplugins/imageseparate.rc kdeui (kdelibs): ERROR: Could not write to /usr/share/apps/kritaplugins/kritahistogramdocker.rc kdeui (kdelibs): ERROR: Could not write to /usr/share/apps/kritaplugins/substrate.rc kdeui (kdelibs): ERROR: Could not write to /usr/share/apps/kritaplugins/shearimage.rc kdeui (kdelibs): ERROR: Could not write to /usr/share/apps/kritaplugins/wetplugin.rc kdeui (kdelibs): ERROR: Could not write to /usr/share/apps/kritaplugins/dropshadow.rc I'm running krita as a normal user, so indeed krita can't write to those files. "chown"-ing them to myself removes the messages. The files are modified (adding empty "<ActionProperties/>" tags) but apart from that the behaviour is the same (e.g. the shortcut still doesn't work after restart). Please tell me if there are other tests I could do/things I should check... Thank you!
I can confirm that affecting a shortcut to a tool isn't saved. But affecting a shortcut to an other action (like the grid spacing) is saved.
As for the development version, the tools don't appear in the list of shortcuts.

Since we got multiple reports of this in two weeks, I wonder if someone knows if it uses to work and his regression (either on our side or KDE) ?
This seems to be fixed in KOffice 2.0beta2.
Thanks -- I seem to remember some discussion on this problem in kdelibs, too.
