Description Mikael Eriksson 2007-07-13 16:07:47 UTC
Version: 1.4.6 (using KDE KDE 3.5.7)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

When editing the Idv3 tag of an aac (.m4a) file there is an option to change the field "Disc Number" to a numeric value. When I change this field to i.eg. "2" then press "Save and Close" the change is not saved. The effect of this is that songs from albums with multiple discs are displayed in the wrong order in amarok and on my iPod.

The same problem occur when transferring flac-files to my iPod using the transkode script encoding the songs to m4a files. The original flac-file contains the correct "Disc Number" value but on the transferred and encoded m4a-file the field is empty (null).

If this is not an amarok bug I would be pleased to know where to report it instead upstream. Until this problem is solved either in amarok or upstream I would propose that you simply "grey-out" the "Disc Number" option of aac-files to avoid confusion.

I cannot test this without alot of work but Amarok 1.4.x is in bugfix-only mode as development is focused on Amarok 2. Unfortunately your bug will very likely not get fixed, as the risk of regressions is too high and the Amarok developers do not have the resources for it. Thank you for your report though. Please don't hesitate to report new bugs should you have any problems with Amarok 2 once it is released.
