Description greatbunzinni 2007-06-08 14:19:33 UTC
Version: 3.5.7 (using KDE KDE 3.5.7)
Installed from: Ubuntu RPMs

I use quite a few flash cards and USB drives to transfer data around. If I try to delete any file from them, the default action is to move them to a directory inside that removable drive named ".trash". If I keep copying files to them and deleting them, konqueror will keep on moving them to the ".trash" directory and the drive will eventually fill up. When it does, Konqueror will refuse to write anything to it and warn about the drive not having enough space, although it shows that the drive is empty.

So it seems there are two problems. The first is that the files aren't really deleted from the removable media. The second is that konqueror doesn't clean up it's own trash or realize that it can free space by cleaning it.

It would be nice if it was possible for the "delete" command to be the default command for removable media and that konqueror could do a better job at freeing it's trash to get the space he needs.

konqueror 4 creates the .trash files for flash-drives in $HOME/.local/share/Trash/files/.
