Version:           1.2.6 (using KDE 3.5.6-9.fc7 Fedora, Fedora release 6.93 (Rawhide))
Compiler:          Target: i386-redhat-linux
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.21-1.3194.fc7

When starting akregator I get an error dialog

Could not find the Akregator part; please check your installation.

and removing it a window with just the menus open.

Looking at strace output it seems that akregator is looking for 
libakregatorpart.la
and doesn't find it:

homealone[2]rpm -ql kdepim|grep akregatorpart
/usr/lib/kde3/libakregatorpart.so

Send a complaint to your distro please, this is not a KDE bug.
