Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.5) Installed from: Gentoo Packages Compiler: gcc version 4.1.1 (Gentoo 4.1.1-r3) Target: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu OS: Linux I got 5 videos in a test folder: test/CIMG1400.AVI test/CIMG1422.AVI test/CIMG1423.AVI test/CIMG1433.AVI test/CIMG1435.AVI All of them were captured with my digicam (Casio EX-S500). When I'm watching that folder in konqueror's icon view, strange things happen. CIMG1400 has the right icon. All other files seem to have the icon of the previous movie. CIMG1422 has the icon of 1400 23 has the icon of 22 33 the icon of 23 and 35 the one of 33. So in case you open CIMG1435.AVI you'll see a preview of CIMG1433.avi and will be somewhat confused when trying to find the right movie ;) To further investigate I created 5 folders, with a file A.AVI and Z.AVI each. Then I copied each of the 5 files into one of the 5 folders. It turned out that something goes wrong with CIMG1422.AVI, CIMG1423.AVI, CIMG1433.AVI and CIMG1435.AVI. Each of these files uses the preview of the previous movie in that folder (sorted by name). So what I ask myself is: if any of those movies have broken previews, how comes that CIMG1435.AVI could use the preview of CIMG1433.AVI, which itself was broken? Even more drastically, if I make an empty folder and copy CIMG1435.AVI into it and then copy that file to CIMG1435_1.AVI, the latter will have the proper icon (taken from CIMG1435.AVI), while CIMG1435.AVI itself will hold a somewhat random icon (I guess it's linked with the last icon's preview which was ever created, so you might want to flush the Thumbnail Cache and preview some other movies before going to that folder: Control Center --> Security & Privacy --> Privacy) So that means that broken movie-previews cause trouble even though the preview somehow works... strange, huh? I'll try to upload CIMG1435.AVI, so you can try it yourself.
well, couldn't upload the movie, as it's 4.7 mb and upload is restricted to 1 mb, so here's a link: http://web10.cometoplay.org/CIMG1435.AVI
another try (can't delete/edit prev. comment): http://web10.come2play.org/CIMG1435.AVI
http://membrane.com/test.html has some test .avi files. This is all rewritten for 4, and there don't seem to be avi previews implemented yet. I'm going to close this, but please reopen it if you see it happening in 4. Thanks!
