Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.6) Installed from: Gentoo Packages Compiler: gcc (GCC) 4.1.1 (Gentoo 4.1.1-r3) OS: Linux The Google toolbar seems to be present only when an HTML document is open, and a few other cases (about:blank, error pages, etc.). This is often counter-intuitive, since when I open a non-HTML page while browsing - image, PDF, plain text - the Google toolbar disappears for no apparent reason. At the same time, if I browse local files, and open an HTML document, the toolbar appears. Another example: when browsing FTP, the toolbar is not present. However, if you get an error - wrong path, etc. - it comes back.
This happens, I think, because of the View Profiles. The google toolbar seems to be hardcoded into the Webbrowsing profile. Try it yourself, change between view profiles by going to Settings. In your specific case, pdfs, images and plain texts files aren't handled exactly the KHtmlpart , but are opened with another KPart that doesn't use the konqueror views.
I guess Google Toolbar == search box plugin. This doesn't happen anymore in konqueror 4.1.0. The search toolbar is always there.
