Version: 3.5.5 (using KDE 3.5.5, Debian Package 4:3.5.5a.dfsg.1-5 (4.0)) Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu OS: Linux (i586) release 2.6.18-3-486 Usually, Alt is the common key to bring focus to the menu. Focus in location bar --> hitting Alt doesn't bring focus to the menu. From inside the browsing area, it works. Something's wrong there, I think.
i can reproduce in kde 3.5.6 some other problem, kopete, konsole don't have this problem
It appears to me that whenever you are in a textbox (like the one I am typing in right now) for all applications (QT or GTK based), pressing alt will not focus to menu. Seems like a kwin or X issue.
Confirmed in 3.5.9 and trunk r814642 . But in konq4 Alt never brings focus to the menu, unless I use Alt+F or another combination. In konq3 I can also use Alt+F anytime I want focus.
I cannot reproduce in 3.5.9 and trunk. Very strange!
Agree with Rui G. The alt key has no effect in kde4.
This was a qt3 bug. In qt4 this feature was removed. Pressing alt never focus the menu as it is simply useless. You can use alt+hotkey to do this. So, this bug won't be fixed.
The intended behavior, so invalid, actually.
