Description David North 2007-02-01 22:50:42 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

Platform: OpenSuSE 10.2, KDE 3.5.5, stock install.
(kdebase3-3.5.5-78)

The default protections and ownership on the desktop files in /opt/kde3/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus seem to be "rw-r--r-- root, root" AFTER editing them from controlpanel->peripherals->storage_media, some of them become "rw-------" and are no longer visible
to non-root users.

Reproduce by:
 Login as root
 Open kcontrol
 Navigate to peripherals, storage media
Select one of the visible items & 'properties'
In the properties box, change a single char in the description & press OK
Now back in the storage media dialog, press apply
 Now check protections in /opt/kde3/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus

umask is 0022, the default for SuSE.

Bug confirmed in KDE 3.5.9.

Someone can confirm this using KDE 4?

Hello! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this project has been unmaintained for many years so I am closing this bug. Kcontrol has been replaced by System Settings in Plasma. Please give the latest version of that a try, and open a new bug in "systemsettings" if you continue to have an issue. Thank you!
