Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.4) Installed from: I Don't Know OS: Linux Using Slax 5.1.8 (Slackware-11-based live CD distro) 2.26.16 kernel, FUSE 2.61, NTFS-3g.0-20070118-BETA When attempting to mount NTFS partitions via KONQUEROR, it doesn't use the newly installed FUSE+NTFS-3g subsystem. Navigating to the 'system:/media' node, using either the 'Mount' service menu pick or double-clicking the drive icon causes KONQUEROR to mount using the NTFS kernel driver and the partition is (incorrectly) mounted as R/O. /etc/fstab has been updated to correctly, so that all NTFS partitions are listed w/ fstype as NTFS-3g. Using the MOUNT cmd, as in 'mount /mnt/hda1', NTFS-3g emits the following to the System log: Jan 23 14:59:02 (none) ntfs-3g[26192]: Version 0.20070118-BETA Jan 23 14:59:02 (none) ntfs-3g[26192]: Mounted /dev/hda1 (Read-Write, label "WINXP-NTFS", NTFS 3.1) Jan 23 14:59:02 (none) ntfs-3g[26192]: Options: noatime,rw,users,silent,allow_other,fsname=/dev/hda1,blkdev,blksize=4096 However, when mounting the same partition from KONQUEROR's 'system:/media' node, the following is emitted to the System log: Jan 23 14:42:05 (none) kernel: NTFS volume version 3.1. I suspect this behavior is not a bug/failure and can be addressed through a local configuration sdjustment. My experiments led me to a shell-script wrapper for the servicemenu, which detected the fstype and dispatched an explicit MOUNT, if the fstype was NTFS. This failed, but here's the script for the record: #! /bin/sh PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/opt/kde/bin: DEVN="`echo $1 | cut -b 7- `" BDEV="/dev/"$DEVN FSTYPE="`blkid -s TYPE $BDEV | cut -d = -f 2 | tr -d '\"'`" #FSTYPE="blkid -s TYPE /dev/$KDEV" if [ $FSTYPE = 'ntfs' ]; then #### Mount the device via /etc/fstab, if it's a NTFS partition.... MCMD="mount $BDEV" else MCMD="kio_media_mounthelper -m $1" fi #### Do the cmd.... logger "$0: $MCMD" $MCMD
Still in 3.5.9 use mount instead of ntfs-3g
I have no problems accessing through Dolphin NTFS partitions mounted in fstab in KDE 4.3
