Version: current SVN (using KDE KDE 3.5.5) Installed from: Gentoo Packages OS: Linux It is for current SVN vesion. After rescanning collection or restarting the app collection tree suddenly expands first node. It is 'Blues' genre in my case, and I like blues, but I like other genres too :-)
Just want to add, the same unneeded expanding takes place when clear-search-button is pressed.
Can anybody verify unneeded expanding doesn't take place at "Genre/Artist/(Year) Album" collection tree sorting? Is it for me only? BTW, 'Year' is at reverse order. Is it bug or feature?
Ordering years in reverse is a feature: newest first.
Martin, I'm not sure a 'newest first' order is an expectable behavior for most users (definitely it isn't so for me :-) ). Is it a big work to add 'oldest first' order?
See also Bug 147232 "Amarok always expands first three artists in collection in tree view" Hello, I sort by "Genre / Artist / Year-Album" and whenever I run amarok, the first Genre branch (in my case, "Alternative") is systematically expanded (one level, showing Artists). This also happens systematically whenever I switch views, say back to "Tree View" from "IPod View". It's not a major bug, but is a bit annoying ("Alternative" is mostly from my daughter's collection, so I am not too interested in exploring this branch...). Indeed, I would prefer exploring Blues, or Classical, or Rock, or... Thanks. It's a great application!
Also, from the current thread: "Ordering years in reverse is a feature: newest first." OK, but for two albums having the same year, I might expect sorting to be reverse alphabetical, as in: 1970 - Led Zeppelin III 1969 - Led Zeppelin II 1969 - Led Zeppelin I This is not the observed sorting, so I guess this is a bug, not a feature!
He-he... It is interesting nobody care of the bug. I mean "collection tree self expanding" :-) Can anybody confirm it at least?
comment from KDE bugsquad member I can confirm this behaviour for 1.4.9.1. To reproduce do the following: * Set your collection view to Genre/Artist/Album * enter a filter-term * clear the filter Result: All the paths leading to artists/songs that were in the filter stay expanded to the album level (even if the filter-term was found in the song-title the album with the song in is not expanded). While this might be appropriate for some views it certainly doesn't make that much sense for the one specified especially as applying the filter expands all of the albums first. On Amarok2 trunk r820602 the albums aren't automatically expanded so the behaviour is actually consistent - after removing the filter everything you expanded before stays expanded. Quick note: Amarok 1.4.x is in bugfix-only mode as development is focused on Amarok 2. Unfortunately your bug will very likely not get fixed, as the risk of regressions is too high and the Amarok developers do not have the resources for it. Thank you for your report though. Please don't hesitate to report new bugs should you have any problems with Amarok 2 once it is released.
Michael, I understand, and the issue may closed without any claiming from my side :-)
Thank you for your quick feedback Andrew. closing
