Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.5) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages OS: Linux When displaying HTML containing large textareas Konqueror leaves large areas of whitespace in the page. This starts to appear at 170 rows and continues to increase upwards (i.e. each additional row added increases the whitespace displayed by 1 row). For before / after the 170 row mark see the following test-cases: http://www.mutube.com/x/kde/bugtextarea-a.html http://www.mutube.com/x/kde/bugtextarea-b.html http://www.mutube.com/x/kde/bugtextarea-c.html a) Shows an initial (correct) display with no whitespace following the textarea. b) Shows a textarea at 171 rows, now showing 1 line of whitespace. c) Shows a textarea at 200 rows, now showing a lot of whitespace.
In KDE 3.5.4 packaged for Mandriva 2007.0 I noticed similar behaviour but the process of displaying empty lines starts when the textarea has 147 rows.
Just to update: this appears to be happening in Firefox now also, so I suspect that this is related to the KDE form elements (since they are now used in Firefox) and not the rendering engine. Can someone check the above on Firefox KDE/Gnome/Windows/Mac and see if the problem persists?
It does not happens for me in firefox 2.0.0.14 (win), but it happens in konqueror 4 trunk 20080430 (linux), even with the 170 rows testcase.
Confirmed in 4.5.4, updating version.
This is a khtml sepcific issue. It behaves the same as other browsers when using kdewebkit based browser, e.g. konqueror with webkit engine.
