Description nanotonne 2007-01-08 01:28:38 UTC
Version: 1.4.3 (using KDE 3.5.4, compiled sources)
Compiler: Target: i586-mandriva-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.17-6mdv

if task command executing failed (because not found for example), kalarm show windows named
"ERROR - Kalarm
.........
The execution of the command is failed :
/mnt/data/...../mycmd.sh

       [&CLOSE]

"
/mnt/data in my case is a partition not automatically (for various reason)

This message is systematically show and it's visually a problem,
kalarm need to have a option to choose how error is show, example :
- by windows message error (normal and default) with eventually checkbox "don't show this error message windows for next time"
- by temporary tips error message in systray
- in columns in kalarm of result or executing task, visible if i open kalarm only (example icon state result for result)
- in special file or windows log accessible only if i open it via menu special in kalarm
- by running a special command (if possible only) with parameter to customize record and action in this case.

my command mycmd.sh is executed each 10 minutes,
actually i can't disabled this auto-opening error message at screen of this windows error, and i need this feature of discret message !!! it's a lake for me...
can you do that?

thank .

nanotonne.

How do you envisage the tip error message in the systray working? Do you mean, the tip would show when you put the cursor over the KAlarm icon?

A "Don't show again for this alarm" checkbox was added to command error message windows in KAlarm version 2.0.0, which is in KDE 4.1 (SVN commit 695219).

Duplicate error messages no longer appear when the same command error occurs and the previous error message is still visible (SVN commits 750634, 912249, will be in KDE 4.2.1, KAlarm 2.1.5).

An exclamation mark is now shown in the colour column in the main window alarm list, if any command execution error occurred the last time the alarm triggered (SVN commit 917949 - this will be in KDE 4.3 and KAlarm 2.2.0)

A tooltip error message is also displayed for alarms which have an exclamation mark showing in the alarm list.

A version of KAlarm 2.2.0 for KDE 3, containing the alarm list indication, will be issued in the next couple of months. It will not be in the official KDE release - it will be available on the KAlarm website.

As for the cosmetic bug, please report issues unrelated to the original bug as a separate bug report so that they can be tracked. In this particular case, the KAlarm icon has changed in KDE 4.2 so the bug is no longer applicable.
