Version: 3.5.5 (using KDE 3.5.5, Debian Package 4:3.5.5a.dfsg.1-5 (4.0)) Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.17-2-686 I downloaded some free ttf fonts from http://www.typenow.net, and installed them using the Font Installer in KControl. While they all work in programs like Abiword or KWord, they won't all work as screen fonts when I choose them in the "Configure Konqueror->Appearance->Standard font:". Specifically, I would like to use the MarkerFinePoint font for Desktop icons and Konqueror icons. When I choose it in KControl for the Desktop icons, I instead get a generic-looking Sans type of font. The first time I chose it in the Konqueror settings, it seemed to work, but restarting Konqueror resulted in the same generic-looking fonts as the Desktop. Later attempts to choose it in the Konqueror settings resulted in a mix of fonts where any folder links have the generic font, and everything else has the MarkerFinePoint font. This happens whether I install it as a personal font or as system-wide font
Created attachment 18941 [details] screenshot showing strange mix of fonts in Konqueror You can see that the folder links in the Konqueror window have the generic-looking Sans type of font.

Everett, can you still reproduce this with a recent version of KDE? I downloaded the font and installed it using the Font Installer in KDE 3.5.9/Kubuntu 8.04. I could then configure both Konqueror and the Desktop to use it, and it works without problems, also with symbolic links. I also changed the Konqueror default font in SVN trunk rev. 819266 without problems (I tried with a pre-installed font because this version doesn't seem to have a font installer in the system settings).
Sorry, when KDE 4 was released I switched to using Gnome.
I'm closing this bug because it can't be reproduced any more.
