This might be related to #73727?

Occasionally I manage to get Konqueror into a state where it no longer finds stuff on the page either with Ctrl-F or search-as-you-type. Also scrolling with arrow keys does not work. I think I now have found a way to reproduce this.

1. Open the attached page in Konqueror. (In case the bug needs all the images in the page to work I have them saved too. This page is from http://edition.cnn.com/)
2. Press TAB a large number of times, until the caret is nowhere to be seen. Just hold it pressed for, say, 5+ seconds (more doesn't seem to hurt), and this happens.
3. Try to use Ctrl-F or / or ' to find e.g. the text "active", which is present in the link text under the latest news section.
4. The search does not succeed.
5. Try to scroll the page with arrow up/down (of course you need to have your browser window small enough to have a scrollbar).
6. The page is not scrolled.

I also sometimes get a state where / or ' starts the search but no input is accepted after that and the search just times out after a while. I haven't however found a way to reproduce this. Also often after loading the above page but before pressing TAB scrolling with up/down arrows doesn't work. Even alt-TABbing or switching by mouse to another window and then back makes scrolling work again.

http://www.yths.fi/netcomm/ seems to be an example of a site where nothing can be found by Ctrl-F, / or ' after entering the page but before pressing TAB. Well, at least that's how it works for me right now (I tried a few reloads), I don't know how reproducible it is.

I can reproduce the bug with KDE 3.5.5, SUSE Linux 10.1.
The one in comment #2 I can also reproduce, it's caused by frames. See also bug 31340.
Comment 4 Frank Reininghaus 2008-06-01 22:53:20 UTC
I agree with comment #3: The inability to find words that actually appear on the screen in the test case from comment #1 and the page from comment #2 is due to frames and seems to be a duplicate of bug #31340.

The fact that the arrow keys don't scroll the page is a similar issue: If an iframe is active, the arrow keys can be used to scroll the contents of the iframe. However, if the contents of the iframe page fit into the frame completely, the iframe has no scrollbars, and nothing is scrolled. This is rather unituitive; note that Firefox behaves differently and scrolls the entire page in this case.

Checked in 3.5.9 and SVN trunk rev. 814843.

I'll attach a small test case consisting of two parts: first the contents of the iframe, then the page containing the iframe. One should be able to verify both parts of the bug (finding and scrolling) using the test case.

My next attachment will be a test case using this to demonstrate the bug...

Test case

This demonstrates both issues mentioned in the bug report (finding and
scrolling).

Message from the Bugsquad and Konqueror teams:
This bug is closed as outdated, as we do not have the manpower to maintain the KDE3 version anymore.
If you still can reproduce this issue with Konqueror 4.8.4 or later, please open a new report.
Thank you for your understanding.
