Version: 1.3.8 (Packman) (using KDE KDE 3.5.5) Installed from: SuSE RPMs Compiler: NA NA OS: Linux Playlists from www.di.fm or sky.fm frequently contain multiple entries for the same stream, not all of which are "on the air" at all times. Other players find one of the streams that is working VERY QUICKLY, but Amarok will never test those streams further down the list if the first is dead. To replicate: Download the playlist file and put it on your desktop. Open with XMMS and it always plays. Open with Amarok and its hit or miss. You can always select the "track" from the amarok window, but that means you have to open the player to click next track, or right click the tray icon to do the same. Amarok should sample the stream, and if no packets are received in a certain (SHORT) time, it should move to the next stream. Sample play lists: http://www.sky.fm/mp3/classical.pls http://www.di.fm/mp3/djmixes.pls
sorry, version 1.3 is unsupported - you need to upgrade to 1.4.4
Ok Did that, now using 1.4.4 (GURU) x86_64 and it still fails to step past a dead stream. Now it gives a pop up message (if and only if you have the UI open), and then just sits there, brain dead, until the user selects the next stream. It should automatically step to the next stream. Like XMMS.
comment from KDE bugsquad member I checked this bug in 1.4.9.1 and found it partly skipped dead streams. However this didn't work reliably so I can still mostly reproduce. It seems to be pretty much the same behaviour in current trunk r820602 but I can't really tell as Amarok 2 was sometimes hanging and sometimes just not playing while I was trying to reproduce.
Awesome. A year and a half later and its still hozed. Great job devs. I've moved away from amarok, as it ranks high on my list of worst behaving applications and most irritating packages. The whole user interface needs a fresh coat of bulldozer. Its become so quirky and horribly designed as to be virtually unusable. Devs: Please install old Shop Worn XMMS (old version) and re-learn what simplicity means.
Good riddance, asshole.
later.
