Version: 3.5.5 (using KDE 3.5.5, Kubuntu (edgy) 4:3.5.5-0ubuntu3) Compiler: Target: x86_64-linux-gnu OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.17-10-generic when I select a directory for example "gnash" in my tmp directory and select "compress" there are a few options that work and others that dot not ; this is the global status of all my tries : - compress in "gnash.tar.gz" : ok - compress in (sub options): . "gnash.gz" : failure : first a message displayed in a warning window saying that you have initiated a compression of a single archive containing a single file and that an automatic name will be used which we knew already from the menu with in parallel a running window indicating that compaction process is goig on ; if I clic ok on warning window I get an "Error- Ark" message saying "problem when adding" with this comment line "gzip: /home/....../tmp/gnash is a directory --ignored" ; an empty compressed file is built. . "gnash.bz2" : idem with this comment line "bzip2 :/home/....../tmp/gnash is a directory" ; an empty compressed file is built. . "gnash.tar" : ok . "gnash.tar.gz" : ok . "gnash.tar.bz2" : ok . "gnash" : stange as a proposal as this is the same name as the starting directory to be compressed ; error this comment line : "?zip warning : gnash.zip not found or empty" which does not make sense ; nothing created. . "gnash.zip" : also failure with comment line "?zip warning : gnash.zip not found or empty". Adding options are also problemematic : - addition to an existing zip file : failure - addition to an existing bz2 file : ok - addition to an existing tar.gz file : ok For this latter try I may have missed a few options as proposals depend of present archive types at same level. From this 2 main remarks : (1) Zip routines appear to be buggy. (2) you are supposed to either build a separate archive or add something to an existing archive ; in the second case actions are menu driven as depending of existing archives at same level and threfore in first case you can remove the warning message that does not make sense as confusing in action process. Regards.
Thank you for the bug report. Apparently the functionality is no longer present in KDE SVN trunk (r809157).
