Description richlv 2006-11-14 17:05:09 UTC
Version: svn 604744 (using KDE KDE 3.5.4)
Installed from: Slackware Packages
OS: Linux

when amazon is queried for album cover, result window is modal, but it does not receive focus. this completely block keyboard usage within amarok, most notably using esc to dismiss the result window.

Did that bug vanish in 1.4.5 for you?
Comment 2 richlv 2007-03-01 10:13:58 UTC
hmm. no, in stable branch, rev 633720 the problem is still there :)
Comment 3 shattered 2007-07-22 21:13:05 UTC
Still present in 1.4.6, too.
Comment 4 Harald Sitter 2007-07-23 07:23:25 UTC
This is not an Amarok bug!

Window priority is managed by the window manager (wouldn't have know from the name :P). The effect that is causing this non-focus is called 'focus stealing prevention', now if this feature is not configured properly (i.e. the level of FSP is too high) no window will get any focus by default.

In KDE with KWin you can configure this in
$ kcmshell kwinoptions
on the 'Advanced' tab you can find an option 'Focus stealing prevention level' usually this should be set to Low or Normal.

Please comment if this doesn't fix the issue - closing for now.

I can reproduce this in KDE 3.5.7 with focus stealing disabled.
Comment 6 Harald Sitter 2007-07-23 23:22:28 UTC
I asked some people to test this, looks like under very special conditions it's working properly. So, basically it depends on whether you got a lucky day :S -> reopen

comment from KDE bugsquad member

I can still reproduce this in 1.4.9.1 with focus stealing prevention disabled.
Comment 8 Kevin Funk 2008-06-15 11:49:06 UTC
If someone feels interested to fix this, please provide a patch.
Comment 9 Lydia Pintscher 2008-08-05 22:52:38 UTC
Closing as noone seemed interested.
Please reopen if you can provide a patch.

Thank you for your report.
