Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.5) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages OS: Linux Files in the file-manager of type "Gzip File" (not "Gzipped Tar Archive" or any other) are displayed with the generic file icon if the file is named anything with a ".gz"-extension. If you rename it to have any other extension (even random extensions), the icon is displayed properly. When opening the file properties, the icon shown there is correct, but the file-manager entry will not display with the proper icon.
Eh... this probably doesn't belong in ark - the wizard must've messed up, I could've sworn I selected Konqueror as the application.
You selected the konqueror plugin of ark.I am reassigning the bug...
I cannot confirm this in Ubuntu Gutsy and Hardy. I'll attach a screenshot to prove this. I think the icon differences (between .gz and .tar.gz/.tgz) are there by design: .gz is not really an archive, but only compressed.
Created attachment 22720 [details] screenshot displaying foo, foo.gz and foo.tgz in Kubuntu Gutsy
It works for me also in svn trunk r807691, where the .gz icon is a compressed one (like the .bz2) and the .tgz is a compressed box.
I just checked and while it's still broken on 3.5.9 for me it works in trunk r810280. I'm closing it because it's not likely to get backported to the 3.5.9 branch.
