Description Fred Gray 2000-10-26 01:58:28 UTC
(*** This bug was imported into bugs.kde.org ***)

Package: kjava
Version: 2.0 final

When I visit http://www.javalobby.org or http://java.sun.com with Konqueror
the Java applets appear only in separate windows outside the page. The places
on the page where they belong are filled with grey boxes. The windows are
titled "KJAS Applet - Ticket number $n" where $n is a small integer.

I'm using the IBM JDK 1.1.8 for Linux on Debian potato. I have seen the
same behavior with other JDKs though. My KDE is installed from the packages
at kde.tdyc.com.

Thanks

I am running Slackware (7.1 updated to 'Current' as of Nov 19 with
a custom 2.2.16 kernel.) I used the Slackware supplied KDE2.0
packages with the exception of kdelibs which I compiled to link
against openssl (https support). If I run Konqueror within a KDE
enviroment it shows Java applets fine (I'm using Blackdown Java
1.3.0rc1 since Konqueror didn't like Sun Java 1.3.0 (final).) If
I run Konqueror external to KDE (ie: in a Gnome enviroment) it
places Java applets in separate windows (1 for each running
applet).

I am not sure if this information will help but I can provide
additional information as needed.

Thanks

Woody

Current implementation of Java support doesn't support running
konquerror out of KDE environment. The behaviour you see is normal.
This is a limitation.
