Description Tony Kissell 2006-10-22 23:41:24 UTC
Version: 1.4.3 (using KDE 3.5.1 Level "a" , SUSE 10.1)
Compiler: Target: i586-suse-linux
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.16.21-0.25-default

With my system set to UK English CD tracks with foreign characters (e.g. German umlaut ) show as garbage (capital A + 1/4 instead of u umlaut)
Konqueror and Grip etc show the characters correctly

The extended info of German news podcasts do show the characters correctly within Amamrok

This problem also persist in 1.4.5. It manifest in:
1. inability to add media from directories containt utf character in names
2. problem in collection during scan phase (scan is stopped in the middle)

I attached screenshot which shows such two folders, one of them with ł letter (l') kreated under konqueror and second under console (which resulted in different encoding, which is not a core problem here). The problem is that amarok does not allow to enter to such dir (pay attention to padlock which is NOT related to permissions - both dirs have correct perms). Konqueror and shell is able to enter such directory without any problem.

Just to be certain -- do you play Audio CDs in amarok?

Maybe amarok doesn't decode metadata from CDDB from proper charset.

Can I reopen this bug? I have quite some Greek music in my collection but the texts are all unreadable.
Comment 11 Mark Kretschmann 2008-07-10 18:11:57 UTC
No, you can't. Development on Amarok 1.x has stopped.
