Description Neil Hodges 2006-10-13 23:17:09 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
Compiler: GCC 4.0.3 CXXFLAGS=-O3 -march=pentium4 -pipe -mmmx -msse -msse2 -mfpmath=sse
OS: Linux

When loading a page on any site, anywhere from Google to a personal home page, Konqueror has a timeout where it says "An error occurred while loading (URL)\unknown host (Hostname)."

In other browsers, at the same time, there is just a delay in "looking up" the site, but it eventually loads, yet Konqueror gives up after about five seconds.

It's most likely due to my internet connection, as it happens regularly -- every five or ten minutes -- but it seems, in Konqueror's case, to have something to do with a very short DNS timout setting. A longer DNS timeout or a way to change the setting would be my suggestion.

I remember about this bug. It was fixed a lot of time ago.
