Description Elmar Stellnberger (AT/K) 2006-10-03 08:18:45 UTC
Version:           3.5.1 (using KDE 3.5.1 Level "a" , SUSE 10.1)
Compiler:          Target: i586-suse-linux
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.16.21-0.25-default

I am using konquerors ability to customise the left menu bar by adding additional folders. However if I leave a session open, log in and out, my changes to the left menu bar disappear as soon as my previous session is restored. I have to close and open konqueror manually to make my custom folders appear again.

 Even if all view profiles(Ansichtsprofile) in ~/.kde/share/apps/konqsidebartng are linked to the same profile so that all of them get the same sidebar(show/hide with F9) on application launch, the sidebar configuration is still lost on session restoration:
simplebrowser -> filemanagement
webbrowsing -> filemanagement
etc.
 Profile reloading simply seems not to be implemented by the time since the entries at ~/.kde/share/config/session for konqueror do not show up a Profile=... property by the time.

  Hey, this is a problem as well for scripts querying konqis currentProfile like in use for so many multimedia hotkey bindings! f.e. just think of opening a web page in a currently running konq-instance which is not used as file manager.
> dcop konqueror-1234 konqueror-mainwindow#1 currentProfile

> ps ax|g 1234
 1234 ?        S      0:02 konqueror [kdeinit] -session 4d55e3f78000120483624500000053820

 It simply does not work on a restored session! ('currentProfile' is supposed to return webbrowsing, filemanagement or whatever else.)

Hi! Even 'Document->New Window' does not take on the current profile -> sidebar content lost like on session restoration.

This has been solved on KDE 4 introducing places on Dolphin (the default filemanager).
