Description Toralf Förster 2006-09-27 11:41:20 UTC
Version: 3.5.2 (using KDE 3.5.2, Gentoo)
Compiler: gcc version 3.4.6 (Gentoo 3.4.6-r1, ssp-3.4.5-1.0, pie-8.7.9)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.17-gentoo-r8

If I click at a bookmark which points to a directory where a remote directory is usually mounted via CIFS, but not currently mounted I got an error message.

Mounting now the remote dir onto the local dir and clicking on the refresh icon results in a flickering icon of the address bar of konquerer.
I stopped the load process and clicked at the bookmark - now the content of the remote dir is shown correctly.

Could you still reproduce the bug with recent KDE version?
Could you try using KDE 3.5.9 or (better) with KDE 4?

Thanks a lot Toralf!

Hi,

I can reproduce this issue with 3.5.9 not only with a CIFS directory. I've the same issue with a NTFS directory of a my local machine following the steps described already.
My system is currently : stable Gentoo w/ sys-devel/gcc-4.1.2 and :
tfoerste@n22 ~ $ uname -a
Linux n22 2.6.24-gentoo-r8 #2 Mon May 12 19:30:23 CEST 2008 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1700MHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

BTW I decided to wait for KDE 4.1.x b/c I need KDE + KMail at work.

Worth to mention, that it doesn't depend on a bookmark.
However this behaviour exists only for directoriess under the / of the remote directory. In my case I usually mount drive C: of my Windows XP onto /mnt/C. Therefore I have to put a line like /mnt/C/foo into the address bar of konqueror, mount /mnt/C and press the refresh button to get that descried behaviour. If I however stay direct within /mnt/C, mounting that drive onto that directory immediately refreshes konqueror's window with the content of that directory.

This issue still remains in 3.5.10.
