Description Paolo Peruzzi 2006-08-31 21:51:19 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.2)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
Compiler: gcc-4.1.1

I'm using 2 profiles: webbrowsing, filemanagement.
webbrowing has shortcuts and other buttons..

While browsing www in tabs opening new tabs by middle click sometimes the webbrowsing profile changes to filemanagement. The same when I go into folders sometimes filemanagement switches to webbrowsing. I can't recreate a testcase. If I quit konqueror, open a new instance and go into the same folder it doesn't happen. It's for example /mnt having also a generated .directory which sets an icon for that folder.

KDE 3.5.5 / Debian unstable:
Same problem here: 2 profiles (webbrowsing with addressbar and bookmarkbar, filemanagement with icons only) are heavily in use. Every few days, the webbrowsing profile loses its bars. I have to add them by myself again. Storing the profile again isn't neccessary however. On the other hand, simply closing and opening konqueror isn't sufficiant neither to get the bars back.
Unfortunately, I can't reproduce that behaviour, it just happens now and then.

You're right: profile management doesn't work well on 3.5.9. Even on KDE 4 them are not well managed.

KDE 3 is no longer maintained. Cannot reproduce with KDE v4.7.4 and higher. Feel free to reopen this ticket if the issue remains for you in the afforementioned versions.
