Description Paul Scott 2006-08-24 13:50:24 UTC
Version:            (using KDE KDE 3.5.4)
Installed from:    Fedora RPMs
Compiler:          gcc 4.1.1
OS:                Linux

I have noticed a problem with network folders in Konqueror's Remote Places. I
tried to create a WebFolder, the folder itself is a hidden share on a
Windows environment and therefore has a $ (dollar) sign at the end. However,
although the dollar sign appears in the .desktop file under
~/.kde/share/apps/remoteview:

[Desktop Entry]
Icon=package_network
Name=Hemkatalog
Type=Link
URL=webdavs://username@server.domain.com:443/folder/users$/username

when you click on the icon in Remote Places tab in Konqueror, the address in the location bar comes
up as:

webdavs://username@server.domain.com:443/folder/users/username

I tried escaping the dollar sign (\), but this didn't help.

Same here on Kubuntu (dapper) with kde 3.5.5 from the kubuntu.org mirror.

When I set up the connection it opens once. But a click on the symbol fails because the adress bar misses the dollar sign. (which is in the .desktop file though as the submitter already mentioned.)

Very severy bug since the use of hidden shares is quite common in bigger companies. (we use it for our home-shares)

Does it work if you replace $ with %24
Comment 3 Paul Scott 2007-02-01 08:35:45 UTC
I tried to add a network folder using the %24 instead of the $ as suggested but the Network Folder Wizard reports "Unable to connect to the server. Please check settings and try again" when I click on Save and Connect.

I replaced the %24 with $ and it connected ok. It works the first time, it is subsequent clicks on the new icon in system:/remote that do not work.

By the way, now using 3.5.5-3.fc6.

KDE 3 is no longer maintained, but this should work correctly in the latest version of KDE (v4.7.4 or higher). Feel free to reopen this ticket if that is not the case for you.
