Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.3) Installed from: Fedora RPMs OS: Linux 1. Enable proxy in konqueror 2. Point konqueror to ftp://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/extras/4/i386/ or some other _huge_ repository. 3. Try to select a large number of files in treeview. Isn't it too sloooooooow? 4. Disable proxy now 5. Try to select those files again. Now it's fast! I don't get how proxy can be so detrimental to drag-selecting, but it is.
At work I have to use a proxy to get in the internet. But then, the loading speed of every site (not a specific one like in your case) is very slow. So I have to switch to firefox. Without a proxy the speed is normal...
Thank you for the independent confirmation! I wish some kde developer confirmed it. They never will because UNCONFIRMED means WHOCARES to them. My nug is not about loading. Loading can be slow if the proxy server is slow. I am puzzled why my mouse-drag-selection slows down! I was just giving an example of a huge repository, it is pretty clear from my report.
I can't confirm this bug on 3.5.9 and trunk r809039. I tried using frox and the speed for selecting files seems to be the same.
Cannot confirm this bug in recent KDE versions either (v4.6.2). Feel free to reopen if the problem persists for you.
