Version: 3.5.2 (using KDE KDE 3.5.2) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages If I open konqueror by using the 'Run Command' in the k-menu and enter '/home/tye', then go to the 'Settings' Menu then 'Configure Shortcuts' and use the filter box to search for 'Text' the 'Text File...' shortcut is missing. This is the same 'Text File...' shortcut that is present when you right click empty space in the window and go to 'Create New' -> 'Text File...'. If I open the 'Create New' menu I just mentioned (without clicking anything in the menu, just opening it) then go to 'Configure Shortcuts' and search for 'Text File...' it will now be present in the list. It seems to only appear after opening the menu it is in. Also if I set a key to it, the shortcut key will stop working when I restart konqueror and the entry disappears. When the entry reappears after I open the 'Create New' menu the shortcut key will not longer be configured. If I close konqueror and reopen it in the same way, sometimes the entry will disappear and sometimes it won't. If it doesn't disappear, it will still have the shortcut key I assigned to it.
confirming for 3.5.5
I can confirm for 3.5.9. One doesn't have to enter "/home/tye", the home button will do. The rest happens exactly as described.
In KDE4, it seems this shortcut cannot be configured at all... (using svn trunk r827914, I cannot get it to appear in the configure shortcuts dialog of konqueror or dolphin, whatever I do.).
Message from the Bugsquad and Konqueror teams: This bug is closed as outdated, as we do not have the manpower to maintain the KDE3 version anymore. If you still can reproduce this issue with Konqueror 4.8.4 or later, please open a new report. Thank you for your understanding.
