Version: 1.4.0 (using KDE 3.5.2, Kubuntu Package 4:3.5.2-0ubuntu18 dapper) Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.15-25-686 Problem: The OSD will sometimes show older covers (covers which were previously assigned to that particular album, and later overwritten by another cover).
I can confirm this. (Kubuntu Dapper, KDE 3.5.5., AmaroK 1.4.3.) In case it is relevant, the old cover I get shown was one I had fetched with the "Fetch missing covers" batch action button, and that turned out to be wrong. So I replaced it with another one that the web-fetch came up with. Apparently these get cached (as thumbnails?) somewhere, and aren't updated properly. Now, one thing that could be relevant in tracking the caching process, but of which I am not certain - I can't tell whether I noticed and replaced the wrong image immediately (before I had played the song, i.e. before the image had been shown in the OSD), or whether I only replaced it after noticing the wrong image in the OSD.

Reopened according to comment #11 in bug 129525. This may also be related to bug #130518. Cover handling changed a bit in 1.4.5, could you please upgrade to 1.4.5 and try to reproduce? Please describe exactly whether the cover is a local assigned cover, an amazon cover, or an embedded cover. Please also describe if the cover is displayed correctly in the context browser, the cover manager and the edit track dialog.
I can't upgrade to 1.4.5, sorry. I've only used Amazon covers fetched by the cover manager (see comment #1), first by the "Fetch missing covers", and then by a manual search for a single cover to replace the one that was wrong. I believe I played the album after the "Fetch missing covers", (which I imagine got the image cached somewhere) and only then noticed the wrong cover and decided to replace it. Perhaps you can try the same procedure with a fresh database in 1.4.3 and 1.4.5, and see if you can reproduce. Context browser, cover manager and edit track dialog show it right, only the OSD shows the wrong image.
kko, why can't you upgrade to 1.4.5? What distro?
Mostly because I haven't taken the trouble to figure out how to compile a functioning version myself, or try to find an appropriate .deb that my system could satisfy all the dependencies for. I'm pretty sure I could figure it out, given enough time and patience, though. ;-) I'm using Kubuntu Dapper Drake. One more observation: also the Amarok icon tooltip shows the correct cover.
I could not reproduce this bug neither using amarok 1.4.9.1, nor using amarok 2 Suppose, it got fixed somewhere along the way.
Please reopen this bug, if you can still reproduce it in Amarok 2.0.
