Version: 3.5.2 (using KDE 3.5.2, Debian Package 4:3.5.2-2 (testing/unstable)) Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.16-rc6-acpi-noahci Clicking, or shift-clicking some links in some webpages does start the download automatically without allowing to select the destination folder. Some default folder is used. Kget is used as download manager. This was not happening with kde 3.4.*, started with konqui in 3.5. A page where such bug happens is: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/ganttproject/ganttproject-2.0.zip?use_mirror=mesh Either clicking on the download link or waiting for the automatic download to start, opens the "Save as/Open with */Cancel" dialog box, but choosing "save as" starts the download immediately.
I can't reproduce. Clicking Save As opens a file dialog box to select the file name.
Hi Thiago, first of all, thanks a lot for all your work in KDE :-) However, let me tell you that i was a bit decieved by your anwser... looks like "i cannot reproduce that bug report -> there is no such bug -> please don't bother me". Much more useful would be some suggestion of what extra things to try, what info to provide, etc, so that the problem can be discovered instead of keeping it "hidden" for the next KDE release. Because _somewhere_ there _is_ a bug, it is perhaps not in konqueror but in kget, or in the handling of some config option, or in some specific os/arch/distro whatever. Thanks again for working on KDE :-} Ariel
I am unable to reproduce in 3.5.9 and trunk (r607699), and so has another person been. Does this still occur for you?
Works for me and now there is a checkbox "Don't ask me again".
Well, yes, it still occurs on my laptop but it never occurred on my desktop... both always up-to-date Debian etc. There must be some silly difference which makes this bug visible or not...
I reproduced it on 3.5.9. After selecting to remember the settings, if I return to that link kget is started and it doesn't ask me where download the file. I've tested even on trunk: first I've tried it without the kget integration. Selecting the "remember" option and after trying to re-download the file, konqueror asked me again where to save the file. I've tried even with the kget integration which give me a problem: the second time I've tried to download the file, instead of calling kget (as the first time) konqueror tried to load directly the .zip file!?!?!?!?!?
I've tried again to download it. Now kget asked me again where to save the file. Very strange!
KDE 3 is no longer maintained and this bug cannot be reproduced with KDE 4.7.4 or higher. Feel free to reopen this ticket if that is not the case for you.
